OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2010. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received CEO of the U.S. oil company Exxon Mobil Robert Franklin in his residence at the Plaza Hotel in New York.

Thanking the Turkmen leader for the opportunity of a personal meeting, the American businessman congratulated President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the success of his speech at the session of the UN General Assembly that had drawn wide response in the political and business circles worldwide. The guest underscored the company’s intense interest in establishing mutually advantageous cooperation with Turkmenistan, which pursued the effective energy strategy aimed at fundamental modernization of the sector and diversification of transit of energy to world markets.

Characterizing the Turkmen market as very promising, CEO of Exxon Mobil Robert Franklin stated that this evaluation involved not only the abundant reserves of hydrocarbon resources confirmed by independent experts, but also the enabling environment created in Turkmenistan for foreign business including the favourable investment climate, political stability and advantageous geographical location.

The businessman focused on the relevance of the initiatives put forward by the leader of Turkmenistan at the 65th session of the UN General Assembly, which lay the firm and reliable foundation for the participation of foreign investors in implementing large-scale investment projects in Central Asia and the Caspian region.

Noting that Exxon Mobil had the broad experience of long-term cooperation in the oil and gas sector with many countries, including Turkmenistan, the leader of the nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed belief that partnership with this company had the profound potential. In this regard the President focused on Turkmenistan’s interest in establishing long-term cooperation with companies which offered profound expertise, latest technologies and stood ready to work within the legal and regulatory framework of Turkmenistan.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the wide experience of Exxon Mobil could be effectively employed in the projects for geological exploration and development of hydrocarbon offshore deposits in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, oil refining, training Turkmen oil and gas specialists and development of infrastructure for energy exports to world markets.

In conclusion Rob Franklin expressed once again gratitude for the opportunity of the personal meeting and said that his company stood ready for multidimensional and long-term mutually advantageous cooperation with Turkmenistan.
