OREANDA-NEWS. September 23, 2010. JSC ‘Aeroflot - Russian Airlines’ has won again the ‘Golden Chariot’, the national public award for Russia’s transport industry, being select the ‘Transportation Company that Organized Best its Business during Economic Crisis’, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

The organizers of the contest have highly appreciated Aeroflot’s performance in the year of economic crisis in the world aviation industry. Aeroflot has successfully overcome the world economic crisis having generated the net income that is 3.5 higher than in 2008. Based on the company’s financial and economic performance indicators (‘operation profit’ and ‘net profit’), Air Transport World, an authoritative industry periodical, included Aeroflot in the list of the world’s 25 leading carriers. Also, Aeroflot’s operations during the ‘Icelandic crisis’ were highly assessed by the Russian Government. Once again Aeroflot has confirmed its status of national carrier being virtually the only airline that continued serving regular flights to/from Europe after the airspace of European countries had been closed. In the economic meltdown environment, Aeroflot not only remains the leader of Russian civil aviation but has also strengthened its positions.

‘Golden Chariot’, the annual national public award, has been awarded since 2005. It has developed into a public institution that not only selects Russia’s best companies in transportation industry but also facilitates attaining social and economic objectives that aim at boosting transportation industry and the national economy as a whole. The ‘Golden Chariot’ national contest was established by the Committee for Transport of Russian State Duma and the Russian Ministry of Transport.

Aeroflot is the only Russian airline that most fully meets international standards.
