OREANDA-NEWS. September 24, 2010. About 75 percent of people in Estonia used computers and the internet in the first quarter of 2010, an increase of three percentage points from last year.

The findings released by Statistics Estonia on September 17 are based on a survey of Estonians between the ages of 16 and 74.

Internet and computer use was nearly universal in the 16 to 34 age bracket. The corresponding figures were half of people aged 55 to 64 and a quarter of those aged 65 to 74 -- the latter figure was 10 percentage points higher than last year.

Common internet uses, such as browsing news, online banking, e-mail and search engines continue to be cited. The overall use of internet telephony doubled.
