OREANDA-NEWS. September 24, 2010. As it was informed in the Ministry of Finance of Moldova, the official decision on this matter will be taken at the VIII meeting of the EU council of energy ministers that will take place on September 24 in Skopje (Macedonia).

Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar will represent Moldova. He will present the priorities of our country for a period of its chairmanship in the Energy Community, such as: elaboration of the general frames for promotion of investments in modernization and development of energy infrastructure, deliver of energy efficiency, development of researches on EC oil area. Earlier Deputy Director, General Directorate of European Commission for Energy and Transport, Fabrizio Barbazo noted that the chairmanship in EC would be a great opportunity for Moldova to become more noticeable on the global energy market.

He noted the importance of diversification of energy sources and delivering of energy efficiency. The Energy Community Treaty was signed on October 25, 2005. Since November 2006 Moldova had a status of an observer and since May 2010 – a full member of the Community. The purpose of the EC is to create a general space on regulation of energy market on the territory of the EU and the South-Eastern Europe.
