OREANDA-NEWS. September 28, 2010. PLG UA Ltd of Cyprus has been granted  permission to acquire more than 50% of the shares in the AZOT chemical plant, the ammonia and nitrogen fertilizers producer  located in Cherkasy, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine representative announced. PLG UA Company is controlled by Oleksandr Yaroslavskyi who announced back in 2007 that he had concentrated about 60% of AZOT. In early September 2010, Mr. Yaroslavskyi also confirmed that Dmitriy Firtash, the new owner of Concern Stirol (the major producer of nitrogen fertilizers in Ukraine), is interested in consolidating the domestic chemical market through the acquisition of AZOT.

Millennium Capital considers the news as neutral for Stirol. This news implies that Mr. Yaroslavskyi is going to transfer the AZOT shares to an offshore zone. However, Mr. Firtash still has a fare chance of putting his plans to life. Millennium Capital also presumes that being interested in the acquisition of the chemicals plant, Mr. Firtash has been acting for the benefit of SIBUR Holding, the leader of the petrochemistry sector of Russia.
