OREANDA-NEWS. September 28, 2010. Turkmenistan-OSCE cooperation to promote global security and counteract threats and challenges of the modern world is the focus of the two-day international seminar held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The seminar organized by the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan brought together representatives of Mejlis, the Ministry of Justice, the National Institute for Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan, the Institute of State and Law under the President of Turkmenistan, the Institute of International Relations of Turkmenistan, the Academy of Sciences, journalists, teachers and students of the higher educational institutions.

The presentation on the history of this leading European peacemaking organization was made at the seminar. Forum participants exchanged views on the current state and prospects for long-term fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and OSCE in guaranteeing a happy and safe life in the region and all around the world.

It was noted that Turkmenistan pursuing the policy of positive neutrality and broad international cooperation actively promoted the non-confrontational development model. The success of the speech of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the 65th session of the UN General Assembly, in which the Turkmen leader had put forward the new initiatives of particular importance for the international community, once again illustrated Turkmenistan’s commitment to development of the reliable and effective system of security and stability in the Central Asian and Caspian region.

In this regard Turkmenistan attached paramount significance to cooperation with leading international organisations, including OSCE, towards these goals. Underscoring the huge potential available to intensify the constructive dialogue on key issues such as global security, the OSCE experts called for furthering fruitful partnership.
