OREANDA-NEWS. September 29, 2010. In St. Petersburg-based Pulkovo airport one can now independently check-in for Aeroflot flights using cell phone. During the check-in procedure a boarding pass shown as a 2D barcode and brief information for passengers are displayed on the cell phone screen. The received image is a boarding pass. However, due to security regulations in effect in Russian airport, each passenger has to independently printout his/her paper boarding pass by pressing the screen of his/her cell phone to an optical scanner located before the special control, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

Mobile check-in begins 24 hours and ends1 ? hours prior to the departure time. Similar to online check-in, when performing check-in using cell phone, the passenger can independently choose seats in the airplane.

Currently this service is available to passengers of domestic flights departing from the Pulkovo airport and the D terminal of the Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow.

Before the end of this year this service will also become available in a number of major European airports and, primarily, in London.

By having implemented mobile registration, Aeroflot made another step for improvement of its services on the basis of state-of-the-art technologies.
