OREANDA-NEWS. October 01, 2010. First Vice Prime Minister Andriy Klyuyev in the framework of a working visit to Minsk met with Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky and First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko.

Andriy Klyuyev has noted that meetings with Vladimir Semashko are held almost every month and we are pleased that cooperation between the countries is developing. "We are pleased with the 43% trade growth since the beginning of the year”, said the First Vice Prime Minister.

During his meeting with Sergei Sidorsky Andriy Klyuyev has stressed that today there is progress of bilateral cooperation in the fuel and energy complex. The First Vice Prime Minister has emphasised that Ukraine is ready to maintain electricity supplies to Belarus, it is only necessary to clarify details relating to the formula calculations.

In addition, the parties have discussed the prospects of supplies of Belarusian oil products to Ukraine, cooperation in the transport field.

Andriy Klyuyev has paid special attention to the issue of collaboration between engineering enterprises of the two countries. According to him, Ukraine is particularly interested in supplies to Belarus production of the domestic heavy and power engineering.

"We know about the plans of the Republic of Belarus concerning the reconstruction of its own energy sector, construction of new generating capacities and we are ready to participate in these projects", emphasized the First Vice Prime Minister and added that it was referred, inter alia, to Novokromatorsk machine-building plant, Kharkiv plant “Turboatom” and others.

In turn, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky said he was satisfied with the trend of trade and economic relations between the two countries. According to him, over the past six months the turnover rose up to 2,2 billion USD. The Belarusian Prime Minister also noted that the state plans to enter the pre-crisis level of 2008, when turnover totalled 4,9 billion USD. Sergei Sidorsky has noted that for Belarus this direction of cooperation is a very important one. That is why the state pays so much attention to the Intergovernmental Belarusian-Ukrainian joint commission on trade and economic cooperation.

The Belarusian Prime Minister has also shared the state’s plans to develop its own fuel and energy complex. According to him, the oil and gas sector of Belarus has already broken the country’s borders, in particular, Belarus is developing oil-fields in Venezuela. Belarus is also interested in developing oil-fields in other countries, particularly in Africa and some Asian countries.

The Prime Minister of Belarus thanked the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for the prompt resolution of many disputes. So, Sergei Sidorsky has expressed satisfaction that bilateral claims in the trade and economic cooperation were removed, in particular, both sides removed anti-dumping restrictions.
