OREANDA-NEWS. October 04, 2010. At the workshop “On Competition Issues in Retail Trade” Stats-Secretary Andrey Tsarikovskiy, Deputy Head of FAS Russia, held a meeting with the President of the Portuguese Completion Authority Mr. Manuel Sebastiao, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

At the meeting FAS Russia was also represented by Lesya Davydova, the Head of the Department for International Economic Cooperation, and Andrey Yunak, Deputy Head of the Department for International Economic Cooperation.

The parties discussed the main issues of cooperation between competition authorities of Russia and Portugal and outlined further steps towards strengthening and developing bilateral relations.

For instance, in spring 2011 Lisbon (Portugal) will host a joint workshop (at the Embassy of the Russian Federation) for Portuguese companies doing business in the Russian Federation market and for Russian companies operating in Portuguese market.

Andrey Tsarikovskiy emphasized positive development in the field of information exchange between the two agencies and thanked Mr. Sebastiao for providing materials on analysis of the petrochemicals market and on the issues of relations between network retailers and product suppliers.

Summing up the discussion, the parties agreed to start drafting a bilateral document on cooperation in the field of competition policy between FAS Russia and the Portuguese Completion Authority, which will facilitate further advancement of bilateral relations between competition authorities of both countries.

At the workshop Andrey Tsarikovskiy also held a meeting with Ms. Anne Perrot, Vice-president of the French Competition Authority.

For many years Russian and French competition authorities have benefited from fruitful cooperation: the agencies organized various events through which they were able to exchange best practices of preventing anticompetitive actions and information on developing the antimonopoly policy and legislation in France and Russia.

In view of recent changes in the structure of the French Competition Authority, the parties discussed the format of a bilateral document on cooperation in the field of competition policy and outlined the main areas for developing cooperation between competition authorities of Russia and France.

In general, the parties expressed their overall readiness to strengthen and further develop the interagency cooperation.
