OREANDA-NEWS. October 04, 2010. Gross foreign liabilities of Belarus’ national economy rose 4.2% in April-June 2010 to USD 23.171 billion as of July 1, 2010, the National Bank of Belarus (NBB) told.

Foreign debt expanded by USD 927.5 million in the second quarter, which compares to USD 183.2 million in the first quarter of 2010 and USD 2.731 billion in the fourth quarter of 2009.

The debt of the central government went down 0.5% in the second quarter of 2010 to USD 8.947 billion as of July1, 2010.

Foreign direct investment in Belarus decreased 4.5% in April-July 2010 to USD 744.3 million.

Commercial banks’ foreign liabilities increased 18.4% to USD 4.128 billion mostly due to the repayment of foreign loans.

Gross foreign liabilities of other sectors of economy increased 4.2% to USD 8.95 billion. Foreign debt of monetary authorities went down 17.2% to USD 401.6 million.

In 2009, Belarus’ gross foreign liabilities increased by USD 6.906 billion, or by 45.6%, to total USD 22.06 billion as of January 1, 2010.
