OREANDA-NEWS. October 05, 2010. Aeroflot — Russian Airlines has summed up its work in August and eight months of 2010, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

Company’s results for August and eight months outdistance the Russian sector of air transport, published by Rosaviatciya. August saw 22% rise in the passenger traffic with 32.7% of total growth for eight months.

In August 2010, Aeroflot’s passenger traffic increased by 30.6% against the same period in 2009 and totaled 3 bln 630 mln passenger-kilometers. The number of transported passengers increased by 27.4% to 1 mln 175,4 thsd passengers. The volume of passenger traffic on international routes increased by 29.3% (+ 168,7 thousand passengers), for domestic flights — by 24.2% (+ 84,1 thousand passengers). The load factor in August was 83.4% which stands 2.7% higher than last year. The payload factor made 66.5%, 2.6% above the last year result.

In August Aeroflot demonstrated the passenger traffic growth above the industry’s average by 8.6%.

Results for eight months of 2010 — Aeroflot’s passenger traffic amounted to 22 bln 932 mln passenger-kilometers, which is 37% higher than the results of the same period of 2009. An amount of transported passengers increased by 31.7% to 7 mln and 461 thousand passengers. The load factor also increased to 77.6%, higher than last year by 9.8%. The payload equaled 63.2%, which is 9.2% above the last year parameter.

Eight months of 2010 showed Aeroflot’s results in the growth of passenger traffic to exceed the industry’s average by 4.3%.

According to general director Vitaly Saveliev, "Aeroflot’s operating results manifest effectiveness of the policy selected in improving services and increasing the number of loyal passengers. I am sure that Aeroflot has all chances to become one of the leaders in air transport in Europe. The purpose is ambitious but realistic. Rising mobility is key to the success of the country. It’s obvious — the future relies upon aviation".
