OREANDA-NEWS. October 08, 2010. In the first nine months of this year, NGDU Sorochinskneft put into operation 29 wells drilled in 10 fields. The total well rate increment amounted to 2,300 tons a day, and the incremental production exceeded 270,000 tons, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

The development strategy of the enterprise is oriented to building up the volume of drilling works as drilling is one of the most important factors of production growth. According to Andrei Gerasimov, Head, Sidetracking and Drilling Department, NGDU Sorochinskneft, 46 wells will be put into operation in 2010. “The task for 2011 is even more ambitious – to drill 70 wells and produce over 770,000 tons of oil from new wells,” said he.

Apart from increasing the number of wells, works are underway for improving the quality of drilling. A. Gerasimov explained that the possibility of using underbalanced drilling is being considered now for improving the quality of drilling-in. The fleet of drilling rigs is being renewed with top-driven rigs, which will substantially reduce the non-productive drilling time and allow drilling extended reach wells and horizontal wells.
