OREANDA-NEWS. October 08, 2010. The merger process between Sakhatelecom and the largest telecommunications operator in the Far East, Far East Telecom was completed on October 1.  As a result, Sakhatelecom is vested with the status of a branch of Far East Telecom.

For the record, Far East Telecom acquired a 51% stake of common shares in Sakhatelecom on January 25, 2007.  And on October 20, 2009 the Far East operator consolidated a 100% stake in Sakhatelecom, buying out a 49% equity stake from the government of Yakutia.

Following the merger, Sakhatelecom will continue to provide all types of data transmission services, including IPS using xDSL, Ethernet, GPON technologies and IP TV interactive television.

The company also remains committed to implementing socially important projects for the Republic of Yakutia, such as providing broadband Internet for disabled children in the republic, providing to fixed-line telephony services to veterans of the Second World War and providing Internet connectivity in schools.

The structure of Sakhatelecom will remain unchanged.  The full name of the company will be Sakhatelecom branch of Far East Telecom.
