OREANDA-NEWS. October 11, 2010. American Association of Railroads (AAR) auditor Martin Clark has confirmed that railroad wheels manufactured by Vyksa Steel Works (VSW, Nizhni Novgorod Region), part of United Metallurgical Company (OMK), comply with the requirements of the AAR M-07/M-208 specification. This is one of the compulsory conditions for supplying railroad wheels to the international market. The audited objects included VSW's wheel-rolling facilities, central laboratory, and the express laboratory of the wheel-rolling facilities' steelmaking department.

Vyksa Steel Works manufactures more than 140 types of wheels for freight and passenger cars and locomotives, including ones designed for North America. In recent years, OMK invested more than USD 100 million in its wheel-rolling business. It is planned to triple investment by 2015.
