Vasily Alexandrov, Director General of Vnukovo Airport has been listed once again among Russia's Top 1000 Managers by the Eleventh Annual Popularaity Rating co-sponsored and hosted by the Russian Management Association and the journal Commersant. Vasily Alexandrov has been named Russia's best top executive in the nation's transportation industry.

The Top 1000 Managers List popularity rating selects and highlights nation's most capable and highly professional top executives, leaders in their respective industries and lines of work. The finalists are voted in by the Rating's Board of Experts from a shortlist of nominees.

Vasily Alexandrov, Major General of the Aviation Reserve, Military Airman 1st Class, Candidate Mil. Sci, has been heading Vnukovo Airport since 2004, with the Airport firmly embarked - under Mr. Alexandrov's lead - on a proactive stage in its development, while consistently retaining the title of one of the nation's leading air hubs. Thus in August 2010, the Airport welcomed a record number of air travelers over the last nineteen years, and as recently as a month previously it had launched its cutting-edge technology marvel of passenger Terminal A.

Thanks largely to a concerted effort on the part of the Airport's top management, the construction of the new air terminal with the total floor space offering of 270 thousand square meters has never once halted or been postponed even during the height of the world economic crisis. As far as the facility's design and engineering specifications are concerned, it is quite without par in all of Russia and is currently the nation's most technologically advanced structure of its kind. Vnukovo International handles more than 130 thousand flights operated by around 200 airlines, both domestic and international. The Airport's route network spans most of Russia's regions as well as the CIS and former Union member-nations, as well as the farther-flung reaches of Western Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Vasily Alexandrov was born on May 26, 1947, in the Town of Istra of the Moscow Area. Graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Tambov M.M. Raskova Military Pilot Flight School. Served in the RF Air Force in the rank of Instructor Pilot, gradually rising to the rank of First Deputy Commander of the Siberian Military Command. Graduated from the Gagarin Air Force Academy in 1979 and later, in 1992, from the Military Academy at the RF Ministry of Defence General Headquarters.
