OREANDA-NEWS. October 11, 2010. The minimum wage in Belarus will be increased to 400,000 Belarusian rubles (Br) in November and December 2010, an increase of 54.7% from the current level, in accordance with presidential ordinance #490.

The minimum hourly wage will be set at 2,360 rubles, up 54.2%.

“The move will enhance the protection of lower-paid workers of all organizations irrespective of the type of ownership, prevent reductions in the ratio of the minimum wage to the minimum subsistence budget and increase the minimum wage toward the level of the minimum consumer budget,” the press service of the president said in a comment.

In August 2010, the average monthly wage in Belarus rose 0.3% in nominal terms on July 2010 to 1,286,900 rubles.
