OREANDA-NEWS. October 15, 2010. The first ingot for production of reactor equipment of the second stage of Tianwan NPP was cast at Izhora Plants being a part of OMZ group

In such a way Izhora Plants started production of long-cycle equipment for electric power installations for the third and the fourth power units of the Chinese nuclear power plant.


Production of the reactor equipment began after the audit of Izhora Plants production facilities and quality management system carried out by the specialists of Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation (JNPC). As a result of the successfully passed audit Izhora Plants obtained permission for commencement of the long-cycle equipment production.

On March 23, 2010 Atomstroyexport CJSC and JNPC signed a frame contract for construction of the second stage of Tianwan NPP.

Izhora Plants will produce two VVER-1000 reactor vessels with internals and upper units for the second stage of Tianwan NPP. The equipment supplies are to be over by 2014.

Izhora Plants took part in manufacturing of the basic primary cooling circuit equipment for the first and the second power units of Tianwan NPP including the reactors vessels. In September of the last year the two-year guarantee operation period of the first two power units of the nuclear power plant expired. Tianwan NPP constructed according to the improved Russian project is the most up-to-date power plant among other NPPs being operated by P.R.C.

Successful experience of cooperation with the Chinese partners as well as quality of the equipment manufacturers were determined the choice of Izhora Plants as the basic equipment supplier for the second stage of Tianwan NPP.
