OREANDA-NEWS. October 15, 2010. The Turkey Government approved the agreement with Russia for construction of a nuclear power plant in Akkuyu district of Mersin province.

Let’s remind that the agreement for the NPP construction was signed in Ankara on May 12, 2010. In this regard a project company in the form of a joint-stock company with 100% of shares initially owned by organizations authorized by the Russian party will be established in the Republic of Turkey.

The project company is supposed to ensure putting four power units of the plant into commercial operation. Tetash, a Turkish state energy producer undertakes to purchase from the project company electric power to be generated by the NPP from the date of commercial operation, at the weighted average price of 12.35 US cents per 1 kW/h: 70% of energy produced by the first and second power unit, 30% — the third and the fourth.
