OREANDA-NEWS. October 19, 2010. Reconstructions have been started at Vilnius International Airport (VIA): in order to increase attractiveness of the airport and improve quality of services, the baggage reclaim in the Arrivals Hall has been renovated and reconstructed. Passengers travelling by plane to the capital of Lithuania now can pick up their luggage at a lighter and more spacious hall, reported the press-centre of Vilnius International Airport.

During the reconstruction of the baggage reclaim, passport checkpoints were removed, the lighting system was changed, billboards were put in order, walls were painted light colours and the WCs were reconstructed. Moreover, airport direction signs in this hall were started to be renovated. It is planned to renovate them in the whole airport.

“This hall is the first place where all the passengers of Vilnius Airport arrive at, both Lithuanian and foreigners. Earlier this hall was quite dark, gloomy, and full of different billboards and misleading direction signs. As a result, we received a number of comments regarding it from our passengers. That is why we decided to make big changes; now, the hall looks noticeably lighter and more spacious, and the passengers find it easier to orient themselves there: it is clear how to find an exit to town or where to go in case of connecting flights”, the Director of the Infrastructure Department of VIA Darius Okunevicius says.

Now information screens welcome passengers who have arrived in Vilnius, and the Departure Hall passengers are wished a nice flight. Information notices in English have also been renewed at the airport. It is also planned to reconstruct and renovate automatic doors from the luggage sector into the Arrivals Hall A.

On the information boards of the arrival halls passengers can find publications with the flight information inside, Vilnius City maps and leaflets containing information about ways to arrive at VIA and prices of such services.
