OREANDA-NEWS. October 19, 2010. The Head of the Department for Control over Foreign Investments of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) Svetlana Levchenko and Deputy Head of the FAS Russia’s Legal Department Andrey Bouganov took pat in the session of the Mining Advisory Council (a foreign non-commercial NGO), where participants discussed the issues of enforcement of the Law on foreign investments to the strategic industries in Russia and evaluation of the existing state of investment activities in the mining sector of Russian economy, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Attendees included representatives of foreign and Russian companies specializing in legal and financial consulting, management optimization and attracting investments in the field of subsoil use, and representatives of legislative and executive authorities.

Speakers analyzed the main trends, pace and factors affecting development of the mining sector in Russia in general and using the examples of some market players. Discussion focused on specific issues of enforcement of No.57-FZ “On the Procedures for Foreign Investments in Business Entities of Strategic Importance for Russian National Defence and State Security” of 29th April 2008 and planned changes to the law of the Russian Federation on subsoil use.

Svetlana Levchenko gave a presentation “Enforcement Practice of the Law on Foreign Investments in Strategic Industries” and answered numerous questions from the audience.
