OREANDA-NEWS. October 21, 2010. In January-September 2010 gross output of agricultural products in Moldova increased by 8,7% as compared to the same period of 2009. As it was informed in the National Bureau of Statistics, the growth of volume of agricultural production in this period was caused by the increase of production volume both of animal products (by 15,5%) and plant products (by 4,4%).

Particularly, in January-September 2010 the raising of cattle and poultry (live weight basis) in Moldova increased by 24,7% - up to 117 thousand tons as compared to the same period of 2009, eggs production increased by 12,4% - up to 519 million pcs, cow milk – by 2,6% - up to 442,8 thousand tons.

The growth of meat production was caused by the increase of its output at the agricultural enterprises – by 32,4% - up to 28,9 thousand tons, at the private household – by 22,4% - up to 88,1 thousand tons. The considerable increase of production (raising) of cattle and poultry, particularly, of pigs by 58%, poultry – by 25% was registered both due to the growth of total number of livestock and productivity improvement.

The growth of milk production was due to the increase of production output at the private households – by 2,9% - up to 431,2 thousand tons, as the milk production at the agricultural enterprises in January-June 2010 decreased by 7,2% - up to 11,6 thousand tons as compared to the same period of 2009. The production of eggs at the private households increased by 14,3% - up to 312,7 million pcs, at the agricultural enterprises – by 9,6% - up to 206,3 million pcs.
