In the 9 Months of 2010, Vyksa Steel Works (VSW, Nizhni Novgorod Region), part of United Metallurgical Company (OMK), increased its production of railroad wheels by 54.7% YoY and manufactured 469.8 thousand wheels (as compared with 303.8 thousand wheels produced in January–September 2009), reported the press-centre of OMK.

The VSW Wheel Rolling Facility produced 60.6 thousand railroad wheels in September 2010, or 75.5% more than in September 2009 (34.5 thousand wheels).

According to OMK Vice President and VSW Executive Director Vladimir Kochetkov, the growth in production in 2010 was due to the fulfillment of the wheel supply contracts with such large domestic companies as Russian Railways, Altaivagon, Gazprommash, LUKOIL-Trans, and others. In addition, VSW supplied wheels to its foreign partners in India, Mexico, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, and other countries.

From the beginning of 2010, VSW produced 1,447.2 thousand tonnes of pipes of various grades, or 27.2% more than in the equivalent period last year (in January–September 2009, VSW manufactured 1,137.4 thousand tonnes of pipes). In the 9 months of this year, VSW increased its production of large-diameter pipes by 28.2% from 731.2 to 937.2 thousand tonnes.

In September, VSW produced 179.7 thousand tonnes of pipes, or 25% more than in September last year (143.7 thousand tonnes), including 116.3 thousand tonnes of large-diameter pipes, or 21% more than in September 2009 (96 thousand tonnes.
