OREANDA-NEWS. October 25, 2010. President Viktor Yanukovych took part in the in ceremony of opening of the international passenger terminal at Kirovohrad airport.

The President cut the ribbon at the entrance to the newly built complex and toured the facility.

He congratulated the local officials and airport employees on the successful completion of the project. Viktor Yanukovych noted that it is "a good start" and thanked all those who contributed to the project.

Chairman of Kirovohrad Regional Administration Serhiy Larin informed the President that the new terminal was built in just a month and a half. "The terminal is ready to receive passengers," he said, adding that the complex is fully and modernly equipped.

According to regional governor, the second runway is being built now at the airport, which will have a total length of 2100 meters and will be able to receive large aircrafts.

"Today we are working to launch regular flights to Kyiv," also informed Serhiy Larin. He said local government plans to launch Kirovohrad-Kyiv flights by the end of this year.
