OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2010. Law students in Latvia have another possibility to compete for a sponsored scholarship for this study year. Law firm SORAINEN Latvia is patron of its own scholarship, to be granted with the help of the University of Latvia (LU) fund, reported the press-centre of SORAINEN.

Students at the LU Law Faculty can apply for the scholarship, which aims to stimulate young people’s interest in research in their chosen field of study. SORAINEN partner Agris Repss adds, “Our law office has been a LU patron for several years. The SORAINEN scholarship is part of our support to the University of Latvia and we hope that it will stimulate young law students to get involved in research work. Our aim is to support talented new researchers so that they do not have to search for additional possibilities to earn money during their studies but instead can devote their time to successful study and performing planned research. I myself have been a student so I know how hard it is to maintain study quality and do research when one also has to think about earning a living.”

For grant of a scholarship, initiative in research work and public activities will be taken into account. BA (LLB) and MA (LLM) students of the LU Law Faculty (starting from the 2nd year) may apply.

The  amount of the scholarship is LVL 1,800.
