OREANDA-NEWS. October 29, 2010. President of Flanders (Belgium) Kris Peeters, President and General Director Uwe Bakosch and representatives of ports and transportation and logistics companies visited the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg”.

During their visit the guests discussed with the management of the group the issues of business cooperation and interaction with Belgian companies, got acquainted with ro-ro terminal on the territory of the First Stevedoring company (part of the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg”.

During the meeting the President of “Finnlines” Uwe Bakosch noted that starting from October 28 Saint-Petersburg will be connected with English port Hull. This transportation route will be supported by three ferries of Birka type. In Saint-Petersburg these ferries will be handled at berths of the First Stevedoring Company.

Extension of the route Bilbao-Antwerp-Helsinki up to Saint-Petersburg in the end of August of 2010 by “Finnlines” will make it possible to increase the handling volumes of ro-ro cargoes at the terminal of the First Stevedoring Company up to 8 thousand tons every month.
