OREANDA-NEWS. November 01, 2010. Kazakhmys Group announced Y2010 Q3 production results, reported the press-centre of KASE.

Copper and by-product complies with the Group 2010 plan: copper cathode production made up 238.9 tons, silver and gold decreased by 22% and 6% accordingly, and zinc in concentrate increased by 16% if compared with the corresponding last year period.

Power production in Ekibastuz GRES-1 increased by 26%, if compared with the corresponding 2009 period. The program of repair and modernizing of equipment on heating and power enterprises allows provision of heat and power in winter and autumn period.

Kazakhmys Group continues procurement of local products and plans to continue cooperation with local companies. In 2010, the Group procured goods and services in local producers to the amount over KZT67 bn.

Kazakhmys actively implements the social program and defined key areas that include small and medium size businesses support, cities improvement, where Kazakhmys has production and projects on healthcare and education development.

Oleg Novachuk, Chief Executive Officer, said: "This has been another solid quarter for production in our Copper Division and, combined with firm markets and pricing, has led to further strengthening of our balance sheet. The Power Division continues to see positive demand and the modernization program is accelerating to meet the power needs of Kazakhstan's economic growth. We remain on track to meet the production targets set out at our interim results in August and we look forward to reporting at the end of the year."
