OREANDA-NEWS. November 1, 2010. Negotiations between the management of FGC UES and corporation Hyundai Heavy Industries took place in the city of Ulsan (Republic of Korea). The Russian group was headed by the Chairman of the Management Board of FGC UES Oleg Budargin, the Korean side was represented by the Chairman of the Management Board of Hyundai Heavy Industries Min Ke Shik. At the meeting they discussed issues regarding manufacturing of high-voltage equipment production plant in Primorskiy Territory of Russia by Korean company, as well as other directions in bilateral cooperation.

To remind, in Septembed FGC UES, the Administration of Primorskiy Territory and Hyundai Heavy Industries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. According to this document, the sides agree upon construction of a plant for production of complete distribution systems with SF6 gas insulation (SF6-insulated switchgear). At the moment Russian manufacturers pratically do not produce SF6-insulated switchgear with voltage above 220 kV and higher and now FGC UES used foreign equipment.

At the present time within the projects the parties are discussing the range of manufactured products, selecting a site for construction and process the technical details of a plant’s construction. In future it is planned to sign and agreement between FGC UES and Hyundai Heavy Industries with specific deadlines and responsibilities of the parties regarding this project.

Negotiations also discussed issues abour participation of HHI in six start-up projects in creation of allocation units for smart grid in Siberia and Far East of Russia. These are aimed at solving a number of problems exisitng in unified power systems of Siberia and East and offer widespread use of innovative types of equipment and technologies such as large-capacity accumulators, static compensators of reactive power, modern monitoring system and equipment diagnostics and other. During creation of clasters it is planned to create new technologies and equipment for UNEG, process various technological decisions with following spreading in other power systems.

Besides, the sides have considered the development of scientific-technical cooperation. At the present time cooperation here is performed as scientific-practical seminars, meetings and expert consultations, visits to designing, engineering and manufacturing companies. In the long view there are plans under consideration to create a joint research centre to develop new technologies for power grid control, as well as new types of electric equipment.

A visit of FGC UES delegation to Republic of Korea shall last until October 16. Today the group visited Hyosung production facilities for power equipment, as well as a number of power objects.
