OREANDA-NEWS. November 02, 2010. The Day of German Economy was held in Tashkent in the framework of the Week of Germany in Uzbekistan.

The forum participants considered expansion of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two states, namely in the areas of oil and gas, machinery building, electronics, banking and finance, IT and others.

“Germany is interested in further expansion and strengthening of cooperation with Uzbekistan in various areas,” Bernhard Duch of the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Technologies said.

“Both countries have potential for expansion of bilateral cooperation,” he added, noting that Uzbekistan has created wide opportunities for foreign investors.

Germany is one of the active investors in the Uzbek economy. A number of investment projects worth over EUR 1 million has been implemented in Uzbekistan with participation of German capital.

The relations between the two countries are based on more than 100 documents of interstate, intergovernmental and interdepartmental level. Among them are agreements on cooperation in the investment, financial and technical areas.

Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Germany made up USD 338.6 million in January-August 2010.

About 130 joint ventures set up with German investments and almost 60 representative offices of German companies currently operate in Uzbekistan.
