OREANDA-NEWS. November 3, 2010. Ingosstrakh paid out about 553,710 USD as final insurance indemnity for damage caused by breakage of the main engine of the Normandic motor ship.

On November 9, 2009 during proceeding from Nouadhibou (Mauritania) to Las Palmas (Canary Islands) loaded with frozen fish cargo of about 1,000 tons the Normandic motor ship insured by Ingosstrakh under total loss and damage hull insurance policy including loss of freight risk, there was an emergency failure of the main engine. The motor vessel towing was organized for restoring repair in the port of Las Palmas.

In December 2009 Ingosstrakh made the first progress payment of 100,000 euros for the vessel repair. In March 2010 the insurer settled the claim for loss of freight in the amount of 165,000 USD and also made the next progress payment of 180,620 euros to the engine crank shaft supplier account. The final claim for damage was settled in October 2010, the shipowners received from the insurer the indemnity of about 553,710 USD.

In total Ingosstrakh paid about 1,106,056 USD for this damage.
