OREANDA-NEWS. November 08, 2010. TNK-BP target subsidiary Varyoganneftegaz has allocated more than 276 mln rubles for environmental protection activities in 2010 and has over-fulfilled its plans for remediation of contaminated land, having already handed over 37 hectares to the state, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP. 

Under its 2010 performance contract the company planned to remediate 27 hectares of contaminated land.

Remediation work is underway at all of Varyoganneftegaz’s fields – a total of 98 blocks scattered across its licence areas. All of the work has been performed in-house, by the accident response units of the company’s Operations Support Base.

In the first nine months of the year, VNG has processed 18,000 m3 of drilling slurry and remediated 16 mud pits: 10 with the help of contractor organizations and 6 in-house. Dumps containing 4,100 m3 of solid domestic waste have also been eliminated.

Every year, Varyoganneftegaz over-fulfils its performance contracts and the long-term Environmental Improvement Programme agreed with the Government of Khanty-Mansiysk District – Yugra. And this year too, the pace of work is being maintained in every area – performance is running on schedule at Maximum level. TS Varyoganneftegaz comprises OJSC Varyoganneftegaz, OJSC NNP and LLC Vanyoganneft.
