OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2010. These data are reported in the study of the World Bank “Migration and remittances: factbook 2010.” Pursuant to the data, Tajikistan took the first place in 2009 on remittances volume-GDP ratio.

The resources, coming to the country from its working migrants amounted to 35% of GDP. The African countries – Tonga and Lesotho took the 2nd and the 3rd places with 28% and 25%, respectively. Moldova and Nepal share the 4th and the 5th places, possessing 23% of GDP. At the same time, the largest recipient of remittances from citizens is India that, according to the WB experts, will receive USD 55 billion remittances in 2010.

Top-5 largest recipients of remittances from working migrants includes also China - USD 51 billion, Mexico - USD 22,6 billion, Philippines - USD 21,3 billion and France - USD 15,9 billion.

At the same time, USA is the leader on volume of remittances transfer to other countries. In 2009 American citizens transferred from USA more than USD 48,3 billion. Citizens of Saudi Arabia transferred USD 26 billion, Switzerland - USD 19,6 billion, Russia - USD 18,6 billion, Germany - USD 15,9 billion.
