OREANDA-NEWS. November 16, 2010. RSC-Energia has completed investigation of the Progress M-08M docking failure which occurred on Oct. 30, when the cargo vehicle was approaching the International Space Station, RSC-Energia PAO reported.

The Investigation Commission detected that disturbances in the Kurs  RF docking support system had been caused by non-compliance of the Kurs rendezvous control antennae connection on the Pirs module with high-frequency link standards. The non-compliance was first detected in the 4-port configuration of the ISS RS.

The Commission, together with the ISS crew, has proposed recommendations for further automatic docking sequences of Soyuzes and Progresses, including MCC-M ops operations and upgrades of the Zvezda harness in order to maintain proper switching of the Kurs antennae wrt a relevant docking port.

The Kurs equipment installed on the ISS is accepted for further operations.
