OREANDA-NEWS. November 18, 2010. Ingosstrakh paid an insurance indemnity of 6.88 million rubles to one of the major Russian banks due to cracking of an ATM and theft of cash by malefactors.

The law enforcement authorities initiated criminal proceedings in accordance with Article 162 (clause b part 4) of the Russian Criminal Code (robbery committed by an organized group of persons). As follows from the documents provided by the insurant at about 3 a.m. on September 3, 2010 unidentified persons acting jointly and in a preliminary conspiracy illegally entered the premises of one of the Moscow organizations and attacked the security officer threatening his life. Then the criminals opened the ATM safe using autogenous welder, stole the cash and escaped from the scene of the crime.

After substantiating all the circumstances of the incident and obtaining all necessary documents Ingosstrakh recognized the incident as an insured event. Without waiting for the results of technical evaluation of ATM maintainability the insurer decided to pay the bank the amount due with regard to the stolen cash. The amount of insurance indemnity for the ATM itself will be determined following the results of the technical evaluation.

The damaged ATM has been insured by Ingosstrakh within the framework of the ATM and cash insurance program. The insurance covers indemnification of losses including those resulting from malicious actions of third persons, burglary and robbery.
