OREANDA-NEWS. November 19, 2010. The Kyiv City Economic Court has prohibited anyone from hindering State Property Fund (SPF) and other competent state bodies to hold privatization auction of  Ukrtelecom, the largest Ukraine’s land-line incumbent, the court announced Nov 18.

Millennium Capital deems this news as POSITIVE for Ukrtelekom. In Millennium Capital’s view, the current decision of the court supports the government’s determination to sell its stake in Ukrtelecom and prevent the possible lawsuits that may hamper the sale. In Ukraine large privatizations often have a tale of lawsuits attached with interested persons trying to block the process or cancel the results of the auctions. Among the latest manifestations of the prevalence of those practices are Luhanskteplovoz and Odessa Portside Plant, which privatizations went awry due to the mentioned reasons.
