OREANDA-NEWS. November 19, 2010. CAM manufacturer SMiT has begun supplying its Conax CI Plus Chipset Pairing CAM (Secure Plus CAM) to Volia, the largest cable operator in Ukraine.

Secure Plus CAM is fully compliant with the CI Plus Specification V 1.2 standard, specified by the CI Plus Forum, and fully certified by Conax.

Commenting on the development, SMiT VP Stephen He said: "SMiT is honored to supply Volia this highly secure solution. Implementing Secure Plus CAM enables operators to be better protected from piracy and illegal access to their content. It also enables operators to increase their subscriber number by enabling end-users who already own an iDTV to access their content. End-users ultimately receive a more enjoyable experience due to the lack of remote controls and cables that the user-friendly combination of iDTV & CAM brings. This successful solution has the ability to benefit all players in the eco-system. SMiT will continue to lead the development of more and more CI Plus CAMs in different markets."

Sergey Boyko, Volia’s president and chairman of the management board, added: "Volia today is a leader in digital TV technologies implementation in Ukraine. Viola once again proves that they are a trendsetter. We aim to provide maximum convenience for our clients and the highest quality of service. In our opinion, using CAMs for iDTVs fully meets these goals. Additionally, migration to CI Plus standard provides extra protection of the content and, as a result, the company’s revenues. Additional features of this standard will allow Volia to broaden and enhance our service offerings to subscribers owning iDTVs."
