OREANDA-NEWS. November 19, 2010. From January to October 2010, JSC Freight One has doubled power-generating coal traffic in domestic transport communication as compared to the same last-year period scaling up to 19.4 million tonnes.

Most freight is shipped from coal strip mines located in the area of West Siberian Railways (54.7% of the Company’s total freight traffic), Krasnoyarsk Railways (18.4%), North Caucasian Railways (9.9%) and Far East Railways (5/5%).

Current power-generating coal traffic exceeds the last-year level. Since the beginning of the year, about 931 JSC Freight One gondola cars were daily assigned for coal shipment, while in 2009 this required only 453 gondola cars.

For 10 months of 2010, Freight One shipped 4.82 million tonnes of coal from Krasnoyarsk and Khakas coal strip mines, which exceeds last-year level 3 times. For 14 days of November, daily supply of Freight One railcars for coal freight traffic in Krasnoyarsk Territory and Khakassia increased up to 318 cars by 30% against the last year. Main volume of fuel supplies is shipped from Eastern Siberia and Far East stations, including those to combined electric power-and-heat generating plants and public utilities enterprises.

It should be noted that Freight One gondola cars, with their number twice less than that of third-party operators, enable comparable traffic of power generating coal.

Thus, since January till October 2010, Freight One stock comprising 25% of the entire RZD gondola car stock has transported 31% (83 million tonnes) of coal shipped by railways. At the same time, the aggregate gondola car stock of third-party operators (52%) has transported 33% (90.3 million tonnes) of coal.
