OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2010. Under the agreement, PO Barrikada, the largest reinforced concrete producer in St. Petersburg, has become the exclusive producer of DB80 vehicles restraint system, developed by DELTA BLOC, in the north-west of Russia.

DB80 – is a brand new product for the Russian market. The system will be mainly used as central reserve protection on highways to increase road safety and prevent running of vehicles into the opposite carriageway in emergency situations.

DB80 Series safety barriers are currently produced and widely-used for safety purposes in 34 countries, including Germany, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Sweden, Norway, etc. The barriers production has now started in Russia at OJSC PO Barrikada.

Every DELTA BLOC® system is tested by an independent testing laboratory in accordance with the requirements of the European Norm – EN 1317.

Dr. Thomas Edl, CEO of DELTA BLOC International GmbH, comments:
“The technology of vehicle restraint systems production requires an elaborate approach and high-quality components, including concrete. We have already completed production of a sample batch at one of  the reinforced concrete plants of LSR Group in St. Petersburg, and we were particularly satisfied with the quality of the products which has exceeded our expectations”.

Anton Sukhanov, Head of Road and Bridge Department of the Committee for Transport Infrastructure Development of St. Petersburg Government, comments:
“Road safety is a question of high priority for St.Petersburg, that is why start of production of the new vehicle restraint systems in our city is so important. We will consider using the systems as safety barriers on the permanent basis as well as on the temporary basis to provide safety construction on highways”.

In future LSR Group and DELTA BLOC International may also consider producing the systems at other reinforced concrete plants of LSR Group in Yekaterinburg and Moscow.
