OREANDA-NEWS. November 30, 2010. Andrey Tsyganov, Deputy Head of FAS Russia, took part in the Jubilee Conference commemorating the 10th anniversary of the EU-Russia Energy Dialogue* in Brussels, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Representatives of the government bodies, energy companies, academic circles, civil society from Russia and the EU, as well members of the EU-Russia Energy Dialogue summed up the main achievements and outlined the prospects of further enhancement of cooperation between Russia and the EU towards development common energy space for the forthcoming decade.

The energy dialogue is extremely important for Russian-European co-operation as it is aimed at strengthening the EU-Russia partnership, increasing stability and transparency of economic relations maintaining reliability and predictability of relationships between Russia and the EU in the energy field.

FAS Russia’s activities is closely related to the work within the framework of the Energy Dialogue because the Antimonopoly Service is the authorized executive body of the Russian Federation for control over foreign investments in strategic national business entities, which also include the energy sector, control of compliance with the antimonopoly law on the electric power industry, and enforcement of No.35-FZ Federal Law “On Electric Power Industry”.

* Ten years ago, on 30th October 2000, the 6th EU-Russia summit opens the EU-Russia Energy Dialogue, which is based on energy interdependence between the EU and Russia. Its main goal is to strengthen the partnership between Russia and the EU, increase stability and transparency and ensure reliability, safety and predictability of market relations in the energy sector between Russia and the EU. The Energy Dialogue is one of the most important tools for strengthening Russia-EU relations.
