OREANDA-NEWS. December 02, 2010. JSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines is modifying its frequent-flier ‘Aeroflot Bonus’ programme, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

Changes to the Earning Miles and Using Miles sections of the programme are due to be introduced on December 15, 2010. The main reasons that have brought about the changes are the need to synchronize the Terms and conditions of the Aeroflot Bonus programme with those of partner companies of the global SkyTeam alliance and the changing market conditions.

More miles are awarded for practically all the Economy and Business class flights. For the first time ever three out of four Business class tariffs are credited 250%. The new system of miles allocation significantly eases a transfer to silver and golden membership levels.

For the first time in the history of the Aeroflot Bonus programme passengers can get one-way bonus tickets.

Changes have been introduced to the distribution of cities through bonus zones, which makes it easier to use miles for bonus tickets on certain routes. So a division into four zones has been introduced instead of the three-zone one, which means that flying to some regions will be less expensive.

However, the cost of tickets in miles to certain destinations has increased; to be exact, tickets to closer zones that once used to be much cheaper than those of SkyTeam partner airlines have increased in price.

The programme participants from certain regions of the Russian Federation now have an advantage of paying in miles for bonus through flights. This is connected to Aeroflot’s strategy aimed at acquiring a leading position in the volume of domestic flights as well as strengthening its presence in Siberia and the Russian Far East.

Aeroflot Bonus programme members can use the updated table of bonuses for SkyTeam flights to get their bonus tickets to about 900 destinations worldwide.

Passengers can find the updated Terms and Conditions of the Aeroflot Bonus programme on the www.aeroflot.ru website.
