OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2010. Valentina Matvienko, Governor of St. Petersburg, today visited Severstal’s facilities located in Kolpino. During the visit she met with Alexey Mordashov, Severstal’s CEO, and Alexander Grubman, Head of the Severstal Russian Steel division. During the meeting, plans for the future cooperation between the Company and the City’s government were discussed. Mrs. Matvienko was also able to witness at first hand operations at the Izhora Pipe Mill, where large diameter pipes for gas and oil pipelines are manufactured, as well as the Severstal SMC Kolpino Service Centre, which launched in 2008.

St. Petersburg is home to some of the Company’s most advanced, state-of-the-art facilities, producing high-quality, competitively priced products. In 2010, Severstal’s St. Petersburg operations boosted their output to return to pre-recession production volumes and profitability, as well as returning to a pre-recession level of tax contribution to St. Petersburg’s budget.
