OREANDA-NEWS. December 10, 2010. International Day of People with Disability is observed all over the world. On this occasion the joint conference of National Assembly of Invalids of Ukraine and Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on the Matters of Pensioners, Veterans and Persons with Disabilities took place yesterday in Kyiv. Conference topic: "Accessibility. Equality. Nondiscrimination. Realization of basic principles of UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities". Valeriy Sushkevych, Chairman of National Assembly of Invalids of Ukraine and chairman of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee, presided at the conference.

Presenting an accessibility programme in OKKO network at the conference, Concern Galnaftogaz press secretary Oles’ Pohranychnyi marked: "Today there are about 20 filling complexes accessible for people with special necessities in OKKO network, where are specially equipped restrooms and marked parkings for people with disability cars. Three OKKO filling complexes in L’viv region have already passed an accessibility audit and accepted as corresponding to international accessibility standards. We planned an audit of all other barrier-free OKKO filling complexes. Except an adaptation of our filling complexes for people with disability, we equip our A la minute restaurants at filling complexes with kid’s chairs and baby changing stations. So people who travel with small children will have the opportunity to change or feed a baby. And travelling together with children they will not have any complications and barriers on the journey".
