OREANDA-NEWS. December 15, 2010. Representatives of the Department for Control over the Authorities and the Department for International Economic Cooperation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) took part in the meeting of the Steering Committee of the EU project “Approximation of EU – RF Technical Regulations, Standardization and Certification Systems”, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Other attendees included representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the French National Association for Standardization (AFNOR), the EU delegation in Russia and other ministries and government agencies.

The attendees discussed issues related to EU – Russia cooperation on technical regulation (the completed work focused on evaluations of the amendments to the Law “On Technical Regulation”), standardization and certification in the EU and the Russian Federation, common principles and rules of technical regulation in the Customs Union, as well as standardization, accreditation and conformity assessment.

Participants showed the most interest towards developing cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and experts of the European Commission under the EU project “Approximation of EU – RF Technical Regulations, Standardization and Certification Systems” (work completed, project results and planning the work for the next review period).

The European experts emphasized importance and timely character of the issues discussed within the framework of developing relations between the European Union and Russia.
