RTS Released December 13-17 Stock Market Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. December 21, 2010. Over the week of December 13-17, 2010, the RTS Index went up by 1.81% to reach 1,743.87 points (1,712.93 points as of December 10, 2010). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (plus 15.98 points) followed by ordinary shares of JSC "Polymetal" (PMTLS) (plus 6.50 points) and OJSC Uralkali  (URKAS) (plus 5.94 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 0.54% to reach 11,311.05 points (11,249.81 points as of December 10, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 4.62% closing at 2,230.53 points (2,131.96 points as of December 10, 2010).

Last week’s growth on the stock market was accompanied by a decrease of volatility levels when the Russian Volatility Index RTSVX went down by 4.03% to reach 22.71 points (23.66 points as of December 10, 2010).

Last week all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the financial sector, with the RTS Finances Index adding 4.66%. A significant increase was also shown by the telecommunication and industrial sectors, with the RTS Telecom Index and RTS Industrial Index going up by 4.50% and 4.06% respectively.

The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, added 2.87%.

Last week the US dollar depreciated by 0.74% against the ruble to reach 30.75 rubles per US dollar (30.98 rubles as of December 10, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of December 13-17, 2010 equaled USD12.1 billion (373.4 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,179.9 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,109.03 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD426.68 million and ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL (GMKNS) with a turnover of USD193.95 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 50.25%, 19.33% and 8.79% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of JSC Chelpipe  (CHEP) that went up by 11.11% to USD2.2 followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "ROSINTER RESTAURANTS HOLDING"    (ROST) – by 9.20% to USD23.75 and  JSC "Pharmstandard"  (PHST) – by 7.29% to reach USD103.00.

The week's top losers were preferred shares of OJSC TNK-BP Holding  (TNBPP) that fell 5.88% to reach USD5.88 followed by ordinary shares of  ОАО "PROTEK"    (PRTK) that lost 4.65% to reach USD2.05 and  Opened Joint-Stock Company "Company "M.video"  (MVID) that lost 2.67% to reach USD8.76.
