OREANDA-NEWS. December 21, 2010. TVEL President Yuri Olenin told that the program's main objectives included forming a common strategic vision of business in managers of enterprises, studying the experience of transformation of local high-tech companies into global businesses, determining the competencies required to implement the strategy and building up a united team within the Fuel Company.

Russian and foreign professors, as well as business practitioners were invited to the session, and the agenda was discussed in a dialogue-based format. The participants studied issues related to the key success factors needed to build a global company, as well as the best practices from experts’ experience. During the session the participants studied the best practices for business development under tough competition in the market. They also analyzed the experience of the world leading companies in implementing performance improvement programs, including the social aspects of this process; however, the main things they studied were practical examples of companies going from the local to the global level.

The participants reviewed the key areas of TVEL’s development strategy with close integration of science, production and commerce, following which they developed their vision of a strategy implementation plan.

Speaking about the results of the session, the director of Russian Scientific Research Institute for Inorganic Materials OJSC (VNIINM) Yuri Tuzov said that it was informative and useful for all participants. “I reinforced my belief that implementing any development strategy should be based on optimization, without which development will be impossible," - he said. “In addition, we should activate our working contacts with the leading western analytical companies to share our experience in the field of research, since today the globalization is going on in all areas and drives the advancement of any company.”

Sergey Chineikin, the deputy director general of Chepetsk Mechanical Plant, said that the meeting in Skolkovo was very important. “Although the enterprises of Fuel Company are close from legal point of view, there’s still certain disunity between them that should be eliminated,” – he explained. “I don’t mean their production specialization or geographical location; I mean their understanding of how to achieve our common goal – that is to find new niches and increase our share in the world market. That’s why the event held in the form of a dialogue and exchange of opinions gave an opportunity to better understand the common objectives and the concept of further development, as well as to feel that we are a united team."

The session participants share the opinion that the session was more than appropriate: TVEL Fuel Company’s enterprises are taking considerable steps towards a new image, and today a clear vision of further goals is very important. Reports delivered by invited experts made it clear that major foreign companies that have already achieved a considerable success followed the same way.
