OREANDA-NEWS. December 23, 2010. Baltic International Bank participated in a forum where business representatives from Ukraine and Latvia were present. The forum was organised as a part of official visit of Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych to Latvia. The bank’s senior officials -- the Chairperson of the Board Ilona Gulchak and Director for Development of Eastern Europe markets Evgenia Litovchenko -- also attended the occasion, reported the press-centre of Baltic International Bank.

Hosted by the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (Latvijas Investiciju un attistibas agentura, LIAA), the forum was arranged to facilitate international business contacts. Some economic presentations were demonstrated to the attendees to suggest prospects for cooperation between Ukraine and Latvia.

Latvia’s President Valdis Zatlers, Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych, Latvia’s Economy Minister Artis Kampars, and Ukraine’s First Deputy Economy Minister Vladimir Bandurov took the floor as keynote speakers. Signing the memorandum of agreement to establish the Ukrainian-Latvian Trade House (LLC) within the framework of the forum is an important step in strengthening and developing business relations between the two nations.

Organisers estimated that top level executives of more than 70 Latvian companies and 12 representatives from Ukraine (businesses and trade organisations) attended the forum.

The bank proactively supports Latvian-Ukrainian partnership that encompasses various sectors of economy. Established 3 years ago, the bank’s Kyiv-based representative office works to effectively tackle the challenges faced by businessmen wishing to expand their business through new markets.
