OREANDA-NEWS. December 24, 2010. Belarusian potash producer Belaruskali transshipped about 607,700 tonnes of potash fertilizers via the seaport of Ventspils, in Latvia, in January-October, a representative in the producer told.

Belaruskali resumed transshipments via Ventspils in February 2010 after a year-long pause, caused by the global crisis.

In late December, Belaruskali and Kalija parks signed a three-year accord on transshipments via Ventspils.

Belaruskali’s exports fell to 2.948 million tonnes in 2009, down from 6.48 million tonnes in 2008.

In 2009, Belaruskali exported 437,000 tonnes of potash via Nikatera, a new port in Ukraine. Previously, it used the Nikolayev seaport, which is now a grain port.

Belaruskali is one of the largest potash makers in the world, employing about 20,000 personnel. The company plans to increase its output to 9.65 million tonnes annually by 2015. Belaruskali accounts for 15.3% of the world potash production.
