On December 23, the Ukrainian Exchange Index began the day with losses, but demonstrated sizeable growth for the rest of the day. In addition, there was a pick-up in activity in the spot market, with trading volume increasing to 274.7 mln hryvnia, while the futures market increased 18.1 mln hryvnia. Overall, the index grew by 2.36% to reach 2356.36 points.

Ukrnafta (UNAF; HOLD) was the top performing stock of the day and the main catalyst for growth in the UX; shares of the company increased 11.09% in value after being traded for 1161.6 mln hryvnia in 1958 transaction. Shares of Alchevsk Iron & Steel (ALMK; SELL) grew 8.33%, with a trading volume of 62.8 mln hryvnia in 2073 transactions.

The greatest losses on the order-driven market of the Ukrainian exchange were registered by Dzerzhinskiy Iron and Steel (DMKD; SELL) and Komsomolets Donbasa Mine (SHKD; BUY), which dropped 6.18% and 5.15% respectively.
