OREANDA-NEWS. December 29, 2010. Branch of JSC FGC UES – MES Siberia – put into operation two 35 kV controlled shunt reactors (CSR) at Selendum 220 kV substation (the Republic of Buryatia). Total capacity of the electric power equipment amounts to 40 Mvar.

CSR is intended for automatic voltage stabilization at load centers, compensation of surplus charge capacity, minimizing electric energy loss in the grid. The equipment is capable of operating in automatic and remote control modes and allows smooth voltage adjustment at bus sections in wide power range.

Introduction of additional reactor capacity at Selendum 220 kV substation shall increase capability of the adjacent power networks and increase reliability of power supply for southern regions of the Republic of Buryatia and connection of energy systems of the region with the energy system of the Republic of Mongolia.

Besides, the substation experienced installation of new 35 kV switches and circuit breakers, modernization of the existing auxiliary power supply system was performed by installing of additional storage battery and the diesel-generator.  JSC FGC UES spent a total of 200 million rubles for technical re-equipment of the substation. The works are performed as part of the investment program of the Federal Grid Company.

Selendum 220 kV substation, 138 MVA was put into operation in 1986.  It provides for power supply of the southern regions of the Republic of Buryatia and is responsible for transit of electric energy to north-eastern part of the Republic of Mongolia.
