OREANDA-NEWS. December 30, 2010. By the end of 2010 the JSC "Techsnabexport" (TENEX) expects its annual commercial export of uranium products to reach USD 2.3 billion (without the HEU Agreement deliveries).

Under the contract between TENEX and USEC, Inc. within the framework of the Agreement signed on 18 February 1993 between the Governments of the Russian Federation and the USA on disposition of highly-enriched uranium extracted from nuclear weapons (the HEU Agreement) in 2010 around 860 metric tons of low-enriched uranium was shipped to the USA. It would ensure hard currency proceeds to the 2010 Federal budget of Russia totaling almost USD 820 million. By the end of deliveries under the 20-year HEU contract the cumulative proceeds may amount to USD 17 billion. From the onset of the program about 409 metric tons of HEU (out of the total 500 tones) have already been down-blended, which is equivalent to the elimination of 16,360 nuclear warheads.

In 2010 TENEX concluded a number of long-term contracts with foreign companies (and extended the existing ones), in particular:
- Contracts with four US utilities that became a logical continuation of efforts aimed at strengthening the positions of Russian uranium products on the US energy market within the framework of the Amendment to the Agreement on Suspension of Antidumping Investigation (RSA) signed between the Rosatom State Corporation and the US Department of Commerce on February 1, 2008. As of the end of 2010 TENEX signed eleven such contracts with nine US utilities totaling almost USD 5 billion.
- Long-term (2017 to 2025) contracts with lead European utilities.
- A contract up to 2020 for enriched uranium product (EUP) deliveries with one of the largest Japanese utilities.
- A contract with South African ESCOM Holdings Limited for long-term EUP deliveries.

As a result TENEX increased its portfolio of export orders for a five-year period to about USD 10 billion, while the total portfolio of long-term contracts approached USD 20 billion.

Under a contract between TENEX and Chinese Nuclear Energy Industry Company (CNEIC) on rendering technical assistance in construction in China of Unit 4 of the gas centrifuge plant (GCP) with production capacity of 500 thousand SWUs, all major technological equipment have been shipped and 95% of auxiliary equipment and project documentation delivered. The high rate of construction and assembly works support expectations that the plant may be commissioned in 2011 well ahead of schedule.

A 100 percent subsidiary of TENEX - TENAM Corporation, representing the Company's interests on the US energy market, officially opened its office in October 2010 in Washington, DC. TENAM became the fifth foreign-based subsidiary of TENEX in addition to Internexco (Germany), TENEX-Korea (South Korea), TENEX-Japan (Japan) and Tradewill (UK).

Within the activities related to corporate social responsibility four audits were arranged to ensure the compliance of Russian EUP suppliers with the quality assurance and environmental protection requirements of foreign customers of TENEX, namely:
- at the JSC "Angarsk Electrochemical Integrated Plant" (Angarsk) by EON (Germany) and OKG (Sweden)
- at the JSC "Angarsk Electrochemical Integrated Plant" (Angarsk) by EDF (France)
- at the JSC "Electrochemical Plant" (Zelenogorsk) by AREVA (France)
- at the JSC "Siberian Electrochemical Integrated Plant" (Seversk) by AREVA.

Between January and March an audit was performed and a certificate was granted of the compliance of TENEX environmental management system with the requirements of the international standard ISO 14001:2009 in the field of "organization and implementation of export and import deliveries of products by nuclear fuel cycle".
