OREANDA-NEWS. December 31, 2010. The Kharanor Surface Mine, a SUEK unit, was ahead of schedule to meet the annual coal production target. It was on 7 November that the miners lit the lights on a symbolic Christmas tree to signify that the Kharanor Mine met the output target of 3.4 million tonnes of coal.

Some sections of the Mine were also early to meet production targets. Record-breakers were spearheaded by the technological motor transport column and mining area No. 1, which removed 6,700,000 cubic metres of overburden. The last tonnes of the overburden were removed on night shift on 15 October by the operator of EKG 12,5 excavator No. 92 Nikolai Aksenov and the operator of EKG 12,5 excavator No. 93 Leonid Dikovenko.

The growing demand for Kharanor Surface Mine coal by energy facilities of the Transbaikal Territory and the Russian Far East was key to boost overburden removal operations and coal production. The Kharanor miners use all machinery and manpower reserves to meet the needs of the energy sector.

According to Georgy Tsinoshkin, the executive director of the Kharanor Surface Mine, the facility has been meeting the annual coal production targets ahead of schedule three years in a row. Lately, the confidence of consumers in the Kharanor Mine has been increasing as it meets all commitments relating to product volume and quality.
